This Habitation Velier release marks the second collaboration with Guadeloupe’s Papa Rouyo distillery, a project rooted in deep family heritage. The distillery is a tribute to Charles Albert Ruscade—the legendary "Papa Rouyo"—a dedicated cane planter whose legacy is carried forward today by his great-grandson and two master growers. This rum is a pure expression of a single 4-hectare plot, crafted from the fresh juice of two distinct cane varieties: Canne Matos and Canne Red.

Distilled in 2022, the spirit spent a year maturing in a combination of new French oak and ex-Cognac barrels, a pairing that lends a sophisticated, vinous structure to the vibrant Guadeloupean juice. The intense tropical climate of the islands accelerated this maturation, with an "Angel’s Share" exceeding 8% in just twelve months.

Bottled at a precise still strength of 56.7% ABV, this edition features an ester content of 101.6 gr/hLPA. It is a concentrated, site-specific rum that honors the bond between the planter, the land, and the craft of artisanal distillation.
