ARTIST SERIES #15 Ardmore 15 Year

The Artist #15 range, The Dark Side of the Moon, explores the profound influence of Andalusian sherry maturation through six single casks distilled between 1989 and 2015. Featuring malts from Speyside (Benrinnes, Linkwood, Mortlach, and a mystery distillery) and the Highlands (Ben Nevis, Ardmore), the series ranges from Oloroso to Pedro Ximénez finishes. The title pays homage to both the 1970s rock classic and a legendary 1990s Velier Glen Grant series, bridging the gap between historical tradition and modern curation.

The collection is visually defined by South African artist Sthenjwa Luthuli, whose contemporary Zulu-inspired aesthetic transforms hand-carved, painted wooden panels into hypnotic, optical compositions. Notably, the artwork for the "Dark Side of the Moon" bottling is sourced directly from Luca Gargano’s private collection, symbolizing the deep intersection of fine art and rare whisky within this release.

As the only peated expression in the sherry-focused Artist #15 range, this single malt highlights the distinctive character of the Ardmore distillery. Founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher near Aberdeen, Ardmore is a guardian of tradition; notably, it continued to direct-fire its stills with coal until 2002. While the distillery produces an unpeated malt called Ardlair for blending during the summer months, it is their peated spirit that has earned a dedicated following among enthusiasts.

This remarkably expressive bottling showcases a seamless evolution of flavor, where curls of peat smoke gradually merge into rich nuances of malt, warming spice, and dark chocolate. It is a masterful example of how coastal smoke and Andalusian oak can harmonize into a single, cohesive narrative.
